Family Field Trip to OC Animal Care. Promoting Life, Promoting Adoption

Hi folks, today we have a special treat. My 9-year-old would like to be a guest contributor on Sugar and Spice. I am proud to say she is one of my top followers.

An earlier post about Milo the Beagle  touched her heart. She pleaded for follow-up to make sure the tale had a happy ending.  She and I were thrilled to learn Milo was picked up by Strangest Angles Animal Rescue in Sherman Oaks. She asked if we could help another dog find a home. The answer was, “Of Course”, this is her story.

“Last weekend we went on a family field trip to the Orange County Animal Shelter to find a dog somebody could fall in love with. The shelter is located across the street from The Block in Orange.  Here are some photos to show you our day there along with notes from the Editor – my Mommy”.

The employees and volunteers work very hard at OC Animal Care. We were impressed to see their statistics from last year. It is a great group of people, devoted to animals. Go visit to see for yourself.

473 animals fostered by volunteers. (They are taking home the pets they fall in love with.)
348 volunteers contributed 53,119 total service hours. (These are some really cool people)
2,100 animals sent to rescue organizations, (this is a good thing)
136 animals adopted at our Forever Friends for Free event
49 cats adopted at Catopia
10,255 animals adopted from OC Animal Care. (They are busy, it is well run.)
3,877 animals returned to their owners. (Lost and Found works when you do this!
Oh and if you need more clarification about why Motto Motto is such a cute name for the Miniature Pinscher, please see this video from Madagascar 2 .

I stumbled upon your blog from a google search just hoping to find more information about a dog I adopted from OC Animal Care back in May. Low and behold at the bottom of the page is a picture of my beautiful boy!

So just a quick note to let you know that “Jasper” found a good home and is happy! I did rename him Duke, because Jasper was not a fitting name for his clumsy personality and big feet.
